What to expect

Where will the session take place?

Consultations will either take place in your home or in a consulting room at the Nuffield Hospital in Exeter.

The rooms in Exeter are located at Nuffield Health Exeter, Wonford Road, Exeter, EX2 4UG.

How is the appointment structured?

We do not believe in a 'one size fits all' approach to dietary advice. Advice will be tailored to your own individual circumstances, with goals set in discussion with you. There will always be the opportunity to discuss any concerns and questions you may have throughout the session.

Every assessment will consist of:

  1. A detailed nutritional assessment including assessment of a food diary
  1. Weight, height and waist circumference will be accurately measured. Body Mass Index (BMI) will also be calculated.
  1. An individualised diet plan with clear goals
  2. Monitoring plans
  3. Written information to support the advice and goals

It is important we have the most up to date information to help us assess your needs and advise accordingly. If there is any information we need to clarify prior to the consultation, then we will discuss this with you, but may also need to contact your GP or consultant. This is especially important if you have recently been diagnosed with a long term condition where the dietary intervention may differ depending on the exact nature of the diagnosis.

The Legal Bit

As part of the dietary assessment, you will be asked to sign a consent form and terms and conditions before any dietary advice is provided. This is in line with HCPC guidelines.

All equipment used to obtain these measurements complies with the specified EU legislation relating to weight measurement for medical purposes.
